UXO Project in Serbia: Visibility Event of the EC Delegation
On 11th June 2009 a visibility event took place in Belgrade, Serbia, presenting the preliminary results of the current UXO (Unexploded Ordnance Devices) project financed by the European Commission Delegation to Serbia. Mull und Partner Ingenieurgesellschaft (M&P) is responsible for the supervision of the project Survey and Search Service for UXO Removal in the Inland Waterways Transport System Serbia and has been working on this project now for more than one year.
Serbia suffered from the 1999 air bombing campaign by NATO. The project is part of an overall program with the objective to remove UXO from the riverbed and the banks in order to prepare for dredging and improving safety of inland waterway navigation on the Danube and Sava rivers. The specific objective of this project is to gain data to identify anomalies and suspicious objectives in the riverbed and banks. The results of the project enable to determine the requirements and conditions for future activities necessary for the recovery of UXO. The project is scheduled to be finalized by August 2009.
Team leader for the supervision of the survey and search is our M&P senior expert Dr. Rainald Häber, at the same time Head of M&P Project Office Serbia in Belgrade.
